SASCO NEW YEARS STATEMENT

The South African Students Congress (SASCO) wishes to welcome everyone to the year 2022 in particular students of the world, who have survived the pandemic and continue to succeed in their struggle towards a brighter future through education and training.

We wish all student activists a brighter 2022 and hope that they have had enough time to rest and that as they prepare to return to their respective campuses are recharged with energy and enthusiasm as Agents of Access & Success, we salute all those who are exiting the Higher Education sector and wish them nothing but the best in their new areas of trade as they start their new journeys.

We have been charged by the 8th National General Council held in December 2021, to position SASCO as a popular student movement that students reckon with and to develop working inclusive methods to resolve problems faced by the new generation student and the Higher Education sector. It is against this background that the 21st National Executive Committee rightfully declares the year 2022 as the year of “Positioning activism at the centre; consolidating towards a single coordinated post-schooling education and training sector”.

We envisage a smooth Right To Learn Campaign for the year 2022, however urge our Volunteers to be combat-ready to enter negotiations and/or the streets should we face any difficulties in this process of registration. All structures will receive the Presidents Command & RTLC Guidelines by the NEC in due course, we however expect all our volunteers to report to their campuses on Wednesday, 5th of January 2022.

As we wish all the matriculants who are to receive their results all the best & prosperity, we also wish to encourage all prospective students to use the remaining few days to apply for NSFAS as it closes on the 07 of January 2022.
